T Shirt Printing Methods

Written by admin on September 8th, 2011

There are three (3) major t shirt printing methods that works effectively on large orders of custom shirts. These are screenprinting, direct-to-garment printing and custom embroidery. Among the 3, screenprinting is the most popular, not to mention traditional. But technology has improved it a lot; we have automatic and semi-automatic screenprinting presses today, which make shirt printing fast and easy.

Direct to garment printing, or better known as DTG, is the larger version of our inkjet printers. This is the best printing option for shirts with multicolor designs. Though not recommended for large orders because it’s high maintenance and preparation takes longer than screenprinting, DTG is a favorite in the shirt printing industry.

Last but not the least is custom embroidery. This one gives the shirt a more professional appeal; looks well in polo shirts, hats and other work apparels.

So before you decide what printing method you are going to use for your next custom printing shirt project, identify first the purpose of the shirt. If the shirt is for a sports team, screenprinting will do. If it’s for work, embroidery is ideal. For personal use, DTG is just fine.
